ABOUT DIRECTORATE OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION:

Directorate of Vocational Education (MSU-DVE) serves on the Motto of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University i.e. “Reaching the Unreached”; Majority of our University students belongs to rural and economically weaker sections of the society.

There is huge number of higher secondary school pass out students who are not affordable to spend for three to four years for Higher Education degree.

There is equally a great demand for skilled manpower for the different service sectors, industries, companies to cater the needs of the industries/companies.

Directorate of vocational education is trying to bridge the gap between employer and High school pass out students by offering skill based knowledge & training through employable diploma degree courses.

FUNCTIONALITY OF DVE:

This University designs the tailor-made curriculum that suits the needs of the industries by liaisoning the employer and employee. The curricula of the vocational based Diploma and Certificate courses are designed by the experts from industries/ service sectors and academicians.  Skill based employable training are offered by the resourceful teachers in the University affiliated Community Colleges and Extended learning Program Centers.

The University evaluates the skills of the trained students by stipulated practical and theory examinations and offers employable diploma degrees.

These Diploma courses serve as an alternate to the traditional system of Higher education.

HOW TO GET ADMISSION?

Any students who has passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary School Board Exam) can opt to Join any one of the Diploma Course (see the list of Diploma Course) by getting admission in any one of the Community College or ELP centre (see the List) near his/her residence or his/her choice The University has under its jurisdiction 22 Community Colleges, 70+ Extended Learning Program Centers;. Every year Directorate of Vocational Education graduates approximately 1000 students and offers employable diploma degrees through its community colleges and Extended Learning Program Centers.

WHO TO START A CENTRE?

Any registered service minded and public interest trust /Society /Educational bodies/ who has previous expertise in conducting skill based training courses; can seek permission to the university to  start a Community college or Extended learning Program Centers. The regulations and applications is available in the MSU-DVE website: http://www.msuniv.ac.in/community-colleges.aspx.

The trust/society should ensure that the course they propose will enable the students to get minimum 70% placement. The centers will be given provisional approval and their renewal will be based on the placement of the previous batch students.
